Frequently Asked Questions

CAN THE BOOSTER BE USED WITH LARGER INDIVIDUALS.

T-Pole Boosters are designed to support a variety of individuals. The solid inner structure also allows for use with Bariatric individuals. The 24 inch length accommodates the needs of both large or small individuals. The Booster is quickly attached to the transfer pole by simply pressing the clamp mechanism onto the pole. Although T-Pole Boosters are durable, their light weight design is the perfect portable solution for use on multiple transfer poles throughout the day.

WHO WILL BENEFIT FROM USING A T-POLE BOOSTER

When using a T-Pole Booster, individuals with weakness or in-coordination in standing, benefit from stabilization of the knees and redistribution of weight. With the knees supported, the individual can now use their upper body to compensate for lower body weakness.

Placement of the booster just below the individuals knees, acts to limit forward motion, preventing them from sliding to the floor.

With the knees supported, the ergonomic disadvantage of having the individual pull their entire body weight up on the pole, changes to requiring:

  1. Less resistance, as partial body weight is transferred onto the device and through the individuals lower extremities.

  2. A forward pulling motion, recruiting ergonomically stronger upper body muscle groups, than pulling downward.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF USING A BOOSTER WITH YOUR T-POLE

T-Pole Boosters quickly attach to transfer poles, blocking the knees when standing:

  • Preventing knee buckling

  • Limiting forward sliding away from each seat surface

  • Distributing weight through the Booster and patients legs

  • Allowing upper body strength to compensate for lower body weakness

HOW DOES THE DEVICE ATTACH TO THE POLE

The T-Pole Booster attaches using clamps with rubberized grips, preventing the clamps from harming the surface of the Transfer Pole. The push-on clamps allow the device to be easily removed for use on multiple transfer poles throughout the day. The rubberized clamps also help to maintain the proper height of the Booster on the T-Pole while allowing rotation around the pole, during transfers.
As the patient grips to pull toward the pole, their knees are blocked from moving past the T-Pole which simultaneously limits patient sliding beyond the edge of the seat, as the patient stands and pivots or side steps, moving to an adjacent seat.
